Bourton-on-the-Water to Lower and Upper Slaughter Walk

In Bourton-on-the-Water turn off the High Street behind the Parish Church and follow the wide walking path. You will pass the grounds of a school and come to a residential road. Turn left and walk toward the larger road, the A429 highway. Cross at the traffic light and continue across the fields on the path which starts to the right.

The path goes through a few fields with horses and sheep, and follows the river Windrush.  Keep following the water into the cute village of Lower Slaughter.

Stroll through the village along the river until you cross a small footbridge and reach the Old Mill. You can pop in here for an ice cream and continue on your way.

Take the path that goes behind the mill and along the river. Follow the path as it goes over small hills through fields and meadows until you cross over the water. You’ll pass a pretty mansion down the hill to your left that you can see through the trees.

At the road, turn right and then cross the river again and quickly turn left. Don’t miss the charming houses along the river. You can also get a nice view from up the hill. Soon you will come to another small footbridge across a ford and then walk up the hill past a charming old church to Upper Slaughter.
