Sometimes you stumble upon the perfect place by accident. We were walking from one tapas bar to another and decided to pop into El Tenderete on the way.
It looked charming and inviting and wasn’t too crowded. Turns out they had some of the best sandwiches I have ever tasted.
Have you tried montaditos before? Small sandwiches with a variety of fillings, these tasty snacks can be found all over Spain. Like many other tapas bars in Sevilla, El Tenderete offers a selection of these sandwiches stuffed with chorizo and cheese or morcilla. The pringa was my favorite however, stewed pork that is then cooked until crispy on the outside – something like carnitas. The tender salty pork pairs perfectly with the chewy bread and a cold beer.
Not only were the montaditos delicious and the service friendly, but a group of locals stopped in and started singing flamenco. We had happened upon the perfect hidden gem. Let’s order another round of beers and montaditos and stay awhile.
