WHAT TO DO IN PRAGUE

Come explore with us and we’ll tell you what to do in Prague on a short visit including sights you shouldn’t miss and tours you can take to get the most out of your time in the city.

7 SIGHTS TO SEE IN PRAGUE

1. CHARLES BRIDGE

Commissioned by King Charles IV in 1357 the Charles Bridge is a famous historic bridge that crosses the Vltava river.  Charles Bridge created a connection that made Prague important as a trade route between Eastern and Western Europe. The bridge is beautiful and interesting with three bridge towers and 30 statues along its walls.

If you’d like to see the Charles Bridge without hordes of tourists and vendors visit early in the morning.

2. OLD TOWN SQUARE

The lovely Old Town Square is located between Wenceslas Square and the Charles Bridge. Many historical monuments are located in the square including the Astronomical Clock, Church of Our Lady before Týn and Church of St Nicholas. During December there are famous Christmas markets set up in the square which attract visitors from across Europe.

3. ASTRONOMICAL CLOCK

The Astronomical Clock also known as Prague Orloj was first installed in 1410, making it one of the oldest in the world. The clock is an amazing sight to behold and is also extremely interesting. The clock shows five different kinds of time and has moving wooden statues representing the apostles, death, vanity, greed and lust. It is a must-see when visiting Prague. 4. JEWISH QUARTER

Jewish Quarter in Prague is the site of many historical structures including six synagogues, plus the Jewish Ceremonial Hall and the Old Jewish Cemetery. The sites form what is now called the Jewish Museum in Prague and can be visited with a ticket or on a guided tour.

5. KAMPA ISLAND

Kampa Island is a charming oasis in the center of Prague. The island is a lovely place to wander on a spring or summer day. You can see many Prague monuments from the banks the island including Prague Castle, the Cathedral and Charles Bridge. The Museum Kampa, a modern art museum, is another reason for a visit to the island.

6. PRAGUE CASTLE

The enormous Prague Castle property includes many historical buildings such as the Metropolitan Cathedral, Golden Lane and the Old Royal Palace. There are also museums, gardens and even a vineyard. During the reign of Charles IV (1346-1378) the castle became the seat of the Holy Roman Emperor. Prague Castle is said to be the largest castle property in the world. Be sure to visit the Cathedral and charming Golden Lane.

Views of the city from the castle are outstanding and the castle and cathedral are a beautiful part of the view from everywhere else in Prague.

7. METROPOLITAN CATHEDRAL

The Metropolitan Cathedral of Saints Vitus, Wenceslaus and Adalbert is a Roman Catholic cathedral within the Prague Castle area. The Cathedral contains the remains of many Bohemian kings and Holy Roman Emperors. Don’t miss a peek at the St. Wenceslas Chapel and the Alphonse Mucha stained glass window. You can enter the church for free but if you would like to explore further a ticket is required.
